SHIKARPUR/KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited Khanpur Town and Shikarpur on Monday.
He was accompanied Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah, former CM Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, Shikarpur District Council Chairman Agha Mashiuddin Durrani and Sindh Inspector General AD Khawaja. During his visit, Bilawal went to the house of martyred police constable Rafique Qureshi where he prayed for the departed soul and condoled with his family.
CM Murad Ali Shah handed over appointment letter to Rafique’s elder son Amir Qureshi. Rafique was injured after suicide bomber opened fire. He and two other injured constables Sher Muhammad Sanjrani and Nazar Muhammad Malik were sent to Aga Khan Hospital Karachi, but he could not survive. The CM also handed over Rs 50,000 and certificates of appreciation to two scouts.
Addressing the gathering, Murad said that the Sindh government with the help of Rangers would launch a search operation in Shikarpur and Jacobabad districts which would be continued until the end of terrorism. He said all resources would be utilised for restoration of democratic process and peace and tranquility in the province. The CM added protecting life and property of citizens is the prime responsibility of his government.
Later, the PPP chairman proceeded to Sultankot Town and Shikarpur where he met his party leaders and workers at the residences of former provincial minister Agha Taimoor Khan and PS-11 Shikarpur candidate Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh. By-election will be held in the constituency on 20 October. Bilawal also settled the differences between Taimoor and Imtiaz and urged PPP leaders and workers to support Imtiaz against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl candidate.
